Athletes’ Foot (Tinea Pedis)
Tinea Pedis, also known as Athletes’ Foot will afflict up to 70% of people at some time in their lives. Tinea often causes a red or pink discolouration of the skin and is usually found between the toes. As with fungal nails, tinea pedis is a fungal infection.
The infection that causes tinea pedis may be found on floors, carpets and in communal showers. Fungal infection spread from person to person from contact with these items. Fungal infections thrive in moist warm environments like that found between toes in shoes.
